2003/2004 marked AIDS Calgary's 20th year of serving and working with the Calgary community. As we reflected on the past 20 years, we were reminded that it is important for us to continue to support the community, and for the community to continue to support us.
In commemoration of our anniversary, we hosted a number of events over the past year to connect with the many individuals and groups who have been part of our history. We also created the AIDS Calgary Prayer Flag Project - the common thread that ran through all of our 20th anniversary events.
Prayer Flag Project The project aims to string together all those who celebrate and acknowledge the work of AIDS Calgary and the lives affected. It is also a dynamic and hands-on project that let's you commemorate 20 years of those you've loved, those you've lost, and those who make a difference - in a way that's easy, meaningful and powerful. This summer, we hope to fly the flags on a mountaintop in the Tibetan prayer flag tradition. The natural deterioration of our Prayer Flags will allow their precious lessons and hopes to flow throughout the world. As they disappear, so do we pray that the ravages of this crisis disappear. Please contact AIDS Calgary for info on how you can add your personal flag.
