AIDS Calgary's Community-based Research AIDS Calgary has been involved in various research projects aimed at improving our service offerings awareness efforts in the community, including:
Environemental Sca;: HIV/AIDS Needs and Service Environment in Calgary for People from Countries Where HIV is Endemic Click here to view the final report. An Environmental Scan of Services and Supports for People living with HIV in Alberta Click here to view the final report.
The Spectrum of Calgary Street Involved Youth and HIV Risk AIDS Calgary is currently working in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary and numerous community partners to examine the spectrum of street-involved youth in relation to their service needs and risk for HIV/AIDS.
Through the use of a survey and in-depth interviewing, the study aims to collect and compile information with the goal of improving prevention, safety, risk and stabilization services appropriate for youth throughout the spectrum of street-life involvement. This study concludes in the fall of 2006, with a community-roundtable on September 13, 2006. For more information, contact the research coordinator at Street Youth Study. Under the Radar In collaboration with Dr. Susan McIntyre, AIDS Calgary assisted in the data collection and analyses for this study, which examined the experiences of male sex trade workers in our city and Edmonton . MSM Survey The Prevention and Education Working Group of the Calgary Coalition on HIV/AIDS conducted a survey with younger men who have sex with men, to learn about their sexual behaviours and how they identify themselves as being at-risk for HIV.
