AIDS Calgary provides a variety of support services to help people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS realize a better quality of life.

COUNSELLING PROGRAMS

Counselling and Support

Available for drop in, phone or scheduled appointments. Longer-term case management is also available.

Support Group

A counsellor led group for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Advocacy

Assistance to access services, deal with barriers and address human rights issues.

 

HIV Information Resource Centre and Hotline

In-house information on HIV/AIDS, STIs, Hepatitis C, community resources and telephone support for questions and concerns.

Referral

Links to other organizations for food, housing, counselling and other needs.

Spirit Helpers

Support, outreach and education focused on supporting Aboriginal people and communities.

NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMS

Positive Living Lunch Program

A hot meal and time for clients to socialize and learn about specific health and wellness topics, on scheduled Fridays.

Interactive Coffee Connection

Drop-in support for people living with HIV/AIDS to learn basic cooking skills and food safety. Coffee and a light snack provided, on scheduled Fridays.

Coffee Connection

Drop-in for informal peer support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Coffee and snacks provided, on scheduled Fridays.

Good Food Box

Fruit and vegetable box available for purchase on a monthly basis.

Community Kitchen

An opportunity to learn the basics of cooking inexpensive, well balanced meals.

OTHER SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Volunteer Drivers

Can arrange, in advance, volunteer drivers for appointments.

Volunteer Support

Appointments available with volunteers for resumes, job and housing search, and tax return help.

Complementary Therapies

Free chiropractic services and other therapies offered as available.

Greenbough Fund

Emergency financial assistance for registered clients of AIDS Calgary.

Transportation and Childcare Subsidies

Subsidies available for families with children accessing programs and services at AIDS Calgary.

Safer Sex Supplies

Free condoms, lube, dental dams and gloves along with safer sex information.
